Audio Extractor from Video

Need the audio from a video? EaseBowl's Audio Extractor pulls the sound track out of your video and saves it as an audio file, right in your browser. For MP4 and MOV videos with AAC audio, you can copy the original audio without re-encoding, which is instant and keeps full quality. You can also save as MP3 or WAV, and trim a clip by start and end time. Your video is never uploaded. No signup and no watermark.

Operational Workflow

Follow these standard protocols to process your files safely.

1

Drag and drop a video file onto the upload area, or click to choose one from your device.

2

Check the audio details shown under the preview. Pick a format: M4A (original), MP3, or WAV. For MP3, choose a bitrate.

3

Optional: enter a start and end time to extract only a section. Press Now to use the current position of the video preview.

4

Click Extract audio. M4A is created almost instantly. MP3 and WAV take a little longer, and a progress bar is shown for MP3.

5

Play the result to check it, then click Download.

Technical Deep-Dive

The best part of many videos is the sound: an interview, a lecture, a meeting, a song, or a voice message. Extracting the audio track gives you a small file you can listen to anywhere, transcribe, or edit. EaseBowl's Audio Extractor does it in your browser, so the video stays on your device. Three output formats. M4A (original) copies the audio track exactly as it is stored in the video, without decoding or re-encoding it. That means no quality loss, an almost instant result, and no practical length limit, even for multi-gigabyte videos. It is available for MP4, M4V, and MOV videos with AAC audio, which covers most phone, camera, and screen recordings. MP3 is the most widely supported audio format. The audio is decoded and re-encoded as MP3 at 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps. WAV is uncompressed 16-bit audio, useful for editing but large, at roughly 10 MB per minute of stereo. Trimming. Enter a start and end time (seconds or m:ss, such as 1:30) to extract only a section, for example a single quote or a ringtone. While the video preview plays, you can press Now next to a field to use the current playback position. For M4A, trim points snap to the audio's frame boundaries, which is about 0.02 seconds, so a clip can start or end a fraction of a second early. What works. M4A copying works with MP4, M4V, and MOV files that contain AAC audio. MP3 and WAV work with any video whose audio your browser can decode. In practice that is MP4 and MOV in most browsers, and WebM in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. MKV, AVI, and files with unusual audio codecs often cannot be decoded in a browser. If that happens, convert the video to MP4 first. If the video has more than one audio track, the first one is used. Multichannel audio such as 5.1 is mixed down to stereo for MP3 and WAV, while M4A keeps the original channels. Files that are DRM-protected, or streams that you have not saved as a file, cannot be processed. Limits. MP3 and WAV require the audio to be decoded into memory, so very long clips can fail on devices with limited memory. The tool stops with a message for clips longer than roughly 50 minutes of stereo audio. For longer videos, choose M4A, or trim to a shorter clip. Very large videos in formats other than MP4 or MOV are read into memory as a whole, so they may also fail on phones. Privacy. The video is read and processed by your browser and is not uploaded to EaseBowl's servers. That matters for meetings, interviews, and personal recordings. EaseBowl records basic usage statistics, such as how often a tool is used, but not your files or their contents. Common uses. People turn recorded interviews and lectures into audio to listen to on the go, save a podcast that was recorded on video, extract the audio of a meeting for transcription, pull a voice message out of a phone video, or make a short clip from a longer recording.

Key Features

  • Three formats: M4A (original audio copied without re-encoding), MP3 (128 to 320 kbps), and WAV (16-bit).

  • Trim by start and end time, with buttons to use the current position of the video preview.
  • Video preview and a player for the extracted audio before you download.
  • Shows the audio details of MP4 and MOV files: codec, sample rate, channels, bitrate, and duration.
  • 5.1 and other multichannel audio is mixed down to stereo for MP3 and WAV, keeping dialogue from the centre channel.
  • Clear messages when a video has no audio, cannot be decoded, or the clip is too long for MP3 or WAV.
  • Browser-based processing: your video is not uploaded to a server.
  • No watermark, no account, and no installation required.
  • Works in current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari; supported video formats depend on the browser.
